Journey Back to Life

Journey Back to Life is a 13 week peer support program designed to provide a safe space to explore various balanced wellness topics including maintaining positive mental health, and to explore free accessible community resources that support balanced living.

Sessions will alternate between meetings, where we will work on developing our personal wellness toolbox and hear from community speakers, and group outings where we will explore the free resources in our community.

Unfortunately our April 2018 group is full.  But we are already planning out our next group.  If you might be interested in participating please fill out the form below and we will contact you when we have some details.  There is also a spot where you can ask us about other free resources in the community that you can use in the meantime.  Please also like us on Facebook for information on both free events in the community, and about our upcoming peer support drop-ins and workshops.

Our Vision

This peer support group is a pilot program that has been a long time in the making.  Our long-term vision is to have groups like this spread throughout the city in order to provide access to a balanced wellness and quality of life inclusive of all the residents of Hamilton.

We want to provide a local resource that will lead people to a variety of resources.  We hope to reduce the stigma that exists around mental health and reaching out for help.  We want to offer residents a chance to explore something they might not have attempted on their own and to help them find the skills they need to do this.

We hope to provide people with ONE place to go and explore something that is big, confusing, and at times overwhelming.  We are mental health consumers ourselves and we understand the challenges faced by people in our community.

Funding Partners

We are very grateful to have the support of a number of outstanding organisations.  My Free Hamilton wouldn't exist without the training we received through the Neighbourhood Leadership Institute, a part of the Hamilton Community Foundation.  The specific funding for the pilot of Journey Back to Life comes from Both NLI and the City of Hamilton, with logistical support from PATH Employment Services and the donation of space from the L.O.S.T. organisation.
